Materials
Yarn: 2 skein Bazinga by Plymouth Yarn (or approximately 110 yards bulky or super-bulky yarn)
Needles: Double pointed needles size US 10
Darning needle
Scrap yarn or small stitch holder
Gauge: 3 ½ stitches per inch in stockinette stitch
Instructions
Cast on 24 sts, divide onto 3 DPN’s. Join to knit in the round. I don’t place a marker at this point – use the tail from your cast on to keep track of the beginning of the round.
Cuff
Round 1: Knit
Round 2: Purl
Round 3: *k2tog, [yo, k1] X 2, k2tog Repeat from * to end of round.
Round 4: Purl
Round 5: Knit
Round 6: Knit
Repeat rounds 1 – 6 once more (for a total of 12 rounds).
Knit 5 rounds
Thumb gusset
Round 1: k1, place marker, inc, k1, inc, place marker, knit to end of round.
Round 2, 4, 6 & 8: Knit
Round 3: k1, slip marker, inc 1, k3, inc 1, slip marker, knit to end of round.
Round 5: k1, slip marker, inc 1, k5, inc 1, slip marker, knit to end of round.
Round 7: k1, slip marker, inc 1, k7, inc 1, slip marker, knit to end of round.
Round 8: k1, then place the 9 stitches between the two markers on to a stitch holder or piece of yarn. Cast on 2 stitches to right needle and continue knitting around. Continue knitting every round.
For Mittens
When mitten is about 1” shorter than desired length, begin decrease rounds:
Round 1: *K2, k2tog* around
Round 2 & 4: Knit
Round 3: *K1, k2tog* around
Round 5: *k2tog* around until 6 stitches remain.
Break yarn leaving a 6” tail. With tapestry needle, draw yarn through stitches, gently closing hole. Weave end inside mitten.
Thumb
Divide the 9 sts from holder onto two DPN’s. Pick up 2 stitches from the cast on stitches by the thumb and begin knitting in the round. Continue knitting until thumb is ¼” shorter than desired.
Next round: *K2tog* to end of round.
Break yarn leaving a 6” tail. With tapestry needle, draw yarn through stitches, gently closing hole. Weave in ends.

For Fingerless Mitts
After putting thumb stitches onto holder, continue knitting in the round for abou t 3”, or until about ½” less than desired length. Finishing rounds:
Round 1: Purl
Round 2: Knit
Round 3: Purl
Bind off loosely.
Thumb
Divide the 9 sts from holder onto two DPN’s. Pick up 2 stitches from the cast on stitches by the thumb and begin knitting in the round. Knit 4 rounds. Finishing rounds:
Round 1: Purl
Round 2: Knit
Round 3: Purl
Bind off loosely. Weave in ends.
Definitions
DPN: double pointed needle
inc: increase under the horizontal thread between the stitches. To do this, insert the left needle from front to back under the horizontal thread, then knit it through the back loop.
k2tog: Knit two stitches together as one
YO: Yarnover; bring yarn forward between the needles and over right needle to back.
