Cable Cap

Note: Pattern as written makes a hat that will fit a smallish adult/teen; for larger heads, you may want to increase the size by knitting in the cable pattern until the piece measures about 7 - 8" from the beginning. However, if you do this, you will probably need more than 50 grams/109 yards of yarn.
Materials
- Approx. 50g/109 yards Worsted Weight yarn, approximately 110 yards
- Needle size: 16” Circular size 7, Double Point Needles size 7
- Cable needle (if desired)
- Darning Needle
Instructions
Cast on 96 Stitches.
Being careful not to twist stitches, join to knit in the round, place marker.
Ribbing:
Knit K2 P2 ribbing for 6 rounds, or until ribbing measures
about 1.25 inches.
Body of hat:
Round 1 & 2: *k4, p2* Repeat * * to end of round.
Round 3: (C4F, p2, k4, p2) 8 times
Rounds 4 – 7: *K4, p2* Repeat * * to end of round.
Repeat Rounds 3 - 7 until piece measures approximately 6” from beginning.
Top Decreases:
Round 1: (p2, k4, p2, k2, k2tog) 8 times
Round 2: (p2, k4, p2, k3) 8 times
Round 3: (p2, k4, p2, k1, k2tog) 8 times
Round 4: (p2, k4, p2, k2) 8 times
Round 5: (p2, k4, p2, k2tog) 8 times
Round 6: (p2, k2, k2tog, p1, k2tog) 8 times
Round 7: (p2, k1, k2tog, k2tog) 8 times
Round 8: (p1, k2tog, k2tog) 8 times
Round 9: (k2tog) around
Round 10: (k2tog) around
Definitions
C4F: Cable 4 Front – slip two stitches onto cable needle as to purl & hold in
front, k2, k2 from cable needle
K2tog: Knit two stitches together as one stitch
