Materials

Yarn:  100 grams light worsted weight yarn (approx. 200 yards)
Needles: 16” Circular and DPN’s US 8, and 16” circular US 7

Instructions

Using smaller needle, cast on 88 stitches.
*k1, p1* around until piece measures about 2” from cast on.

Change to larger (size 8) 16” needle.
Rnd 1. *kfb, p, k, p* repeat * to * to end of round (110 sts)
Rnd 2. Knit

Rnd 3. *k5, yo* repeat * to * to end of round (132 sts)
Rnd 4. Knit

Rnd 5. *k3, yo* repeat * to * to end of round (176 sts)
Rnd 6. Knit

Rnd 7. *k3, yo, k5, yo* repeat * to * to end of round (220 sts)
Rnd 8. Knit

At this point, you may find it helpful to place markers after each pattern repeat (where the asterisk’s are)

Rnd 9. *k1, k2tog, yo, k4, k2tog, yo, k1* repeat * to * to end of round
Rnd 10. Knit

Rnd 11. *k2tog, yo, k4, k2tog, yo, k2* repeat * to * to end of round

Rnd 13. *k2, yo, ssk, k1, k2tog, yo, k3* repeat * to * to end of round

Rnd 33. K2tog, *yo, DD* repeat * to * to end of round, end k1
Rnd 34. Knit

Rnd 35. *[k2tog] two times, yo* repeat * to * to end
of round
Rnd 36. Knit

Rnd 37. *k2tog* repeat * to * to end of round
Rnd 38. *k2tog* repeat * to * to end of round (8
sts)

Cut yarn leaving 8”, using tapestry needle pull yarn
through remain stitches and pull tight to inside of
hat, secure & weave in end.

Definitions

yo: yarnover   Bring the yarn forward between the needles, then over the right needle to the back when you knit the following stitch.This creates a small hole.

 k2tog: knit two together Knit two stitches together as one.

ssk: slip slip knit slip two stitches, one at a time as if to knit, from left needle onto right needle.  Insert left needle into the two stitches in front of the right needle and knit them together.

DD: double decrease slip 1, k2tog, pass slipped stitch over
