Instructions
Loosely cast on 20 stitches.
If knitting plain scarf without cravat hole, simply knit in block stitch pattern until scarf reaches desired length.
If knitting cravat style scarf, knit in block stitch pattern until piece measures 10”. Then:
- To create the slit in the scarf, on the next row: K4, p4, k2, then place remaining 10 stitches on a stitch holder or scrap yarn.
- Continue knitting half of the stitches in pattern for 12 rows or approximately 2 ½ inches.
- Now you’ll knit the other side of the slit: place the stitches on needles, and knit in pattern for 12 rows or 2 ½ inches (as you did the other half).
- Place all stitches on the needle, and knit all the way across the scarf. Knit in pattern until entire scarf measures 51” or desired length.
Weave in ends & block scarf.
