Fuzzy Lace Scarf

Materials

1 or 2 balls Crystal Palace Merino Stripes or Merino Frappe (or other chunky, fuzzy yarn)
Needle size: US 11

Gauge: 10 sts = 4” (in lace pattern), but gauge isn’t critical

Instructions

Cast on 16 Stitches.

Row 1 - 2: Knit

Row 3: k3, yo, ssk, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, ssk, k2tog, yo, k2

Row 4: k1, p14, k1

Row 5: k2, yo, ssk, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, ssk, k2tog, yo, k3

Row 6: Row 4: k1, p14, k1

Repeat rows 3 – 6 until scarf reaches desired length or you’re almost out of yarn, then knit 2 rows.

Bind off loosely. Weave in ends and block to show lace pattern.

Definitions

yo: yarnover

ssk: slip slip knit (left leaning decrease).  Slip two stitches, one at a time as if to knit, from the left needle to the right needle.  Insert the left needle into those two slipped stitches in front of the right needle, knit them together.

k2tog: knit two together (right leaning decrease)
