Lacey Keyhole Scarf

Materials

Yarn:  One 50 gram skein Malabrigo Silky Merino (150 yards DK yarn)
Needles: US 6

Stitch Pattern Used

Row 1: k3, [yo, k2, DD, k2, yo, k1] three times, k2

Row 2: k2, p25, k2

Row 3: k4, [yo, k1, DD, k1, yo, k3] twice, yo, k1, DD, k1, yo, k4

Row 4: k2, p25, k2

Row 5: k5, [yo, DD, yo, k5] twice, yo, DD, yo, k5

Row 6: k2, p25, k2

Instructions

Cast on 29 stitches.

Knit 2 rows.

Knit in Lace pattern as above until piecemeasures approximately 21 inches, ending
with row 6. Then work the following keyhole rows:

Row 1: k3, yo, k2, DD, k2, yo, k1 – BO 7 sts – yo, k2, DD, k2, yo, k3

Row 2: k2, p9, – CO 7 sts – p9, k2

Row 3: k4, yo, k1 DD, k1, yo, k11, yo, k1, DD, k1, yo, k4

Continue with row 4 of lace pattern, following lace pattern until piece measures 31”, ending with row 6.

Knit two rows. Bind off in purl.

Definitions

yo: yarnover Wrap the yarn once from front to back around the right needle. On the next row, work it as a normal stitch. This creates a small hole.

DD: double decrease slip 1, k2tog, pass slipped stitch over

k2tog: knit two together Knit two stitches together as one.

BO: Bind off

CO: Cast on
