Lacey Scarf

Materials

Yarn: 200+ yards laceweight mohair such as Kid Merino or fingering weight yarn.
Needles: Size 5 - 8, depending on yarn choice

Instructions

Cast on 35 Stitches. (This pattern can be made wider or narrower by adding or subtracting stitches in groups of 10.)

Knit two rows garter stitch (knit both rows).

Row 1: k2, (k1, yo, k2, ssk, k2tog, k2, yo, k1) 3 times, k3

Row 2 & 4: K2, purl to last two stitches, K2

Row 3: K3, (k1, yo, k2, ssk, k2tog, k2, yo, k1) 3 times, k2

Repeat rows 1-4 until scarf reaches desired length or you’realmost out of yarn, then knit 2 rows garter stitch.

Bind off loosely. Weave in ends and block to show lace pattern.

Definitions

yo: yarnover Wrap the yarn once from front to back around the right
needle. On the next row, work it as a normal stitch. This creates a small hole.

ssk: slip slip knit (left leaning decrease) Slip two stitches from the left needle onto the
right needle as to knit, insert the left needle in the front of the two stitches and knit them
together.

k2tog: knit two together (right leaning decrease) Knit two stitches together as one.
