Ruffled Scarf

Materials

Yarn: 210 yards soft, worsted weight yarn such as Suri Merino from Plymouth, Frog Tree Merino Melante, or Malabrigo Merino Worsted.
Needles: US size 8

Instructions

Beginning Ruffle:

Loosely cast on 92 stitches

Row 1: *K2og Repeat from * across row (46 sts)

Row 2: Purl

Row 3: *K2og Repeat from * across row (23 sts)

Row 4: Purl

Body of Scarf

Row 1: k3, *wyif sl 1, k3* Repeat * to * across row.

Row 2: k1, *wyif sl 1, k3* Repeat * to * across, ending with k1

Repeat these two rows until scarf reaches 65” or desired length, ending with row 2.

Ending Ruffle

Row 1: *KFB Repeat from * across row (46 sts)

Row 2: Purl

Row 3: *KFB Repeat from * across row (92 sts)

Row 4: Purl

Bind off loosely. Weave in ends.

Definitions

k2tog: Knit two stitches together (decrease)

KFB: Knit into the front and the back of the stitch (increase)

WYIF SL1: With yarn in front, slip one – Bring yarn from the back to the front, slip one stitch as if to purl from left needle to right needle, and then move the yarn to the back. (When moving the yarn back and forth, move it between the needles.)
